Metal Table Legs FAQs
Frequently asked questions for steel table legs
What is "professional-grade powder coating" on metal table legs?
Professional-grade powder coating is a high-performance finish applied to our steel table legs. The dry powder is electrostatically sprayed onto the steel and then baked at high heat, creating a smooth, durable coating that fully seals the metal. This process makes the legs highly resistant to rust, chips, scratches, and corrosion, while giving them a sleek, long-lasting finish. Our powder-coated legs are available in black or clear finishes and are built to withstand years of heavy use.
What is the best way to clean metal table legs?
Cleaning your metal table legs is easy. For powder-coated black or clear finishes, simply wipe them down with a soft cloth and warm, soapy water, then dry thoroughly. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive scrubbers, as these can dull or scratch the coating.
If you have raw steel legs, clean gently with a dry or lightly damp cloth and be sure to dry completely to prevent surface rust. With raw steel, rust can easily be removed with a Brillo pad or brush. If desired, you can apply a clear protective wax or sealant periodically to maintain the raw steel look without oxidation.
Do steel table legs rust?
All of our metal table legs are handcrafted from durable cold-rolled American steel, known for its strength and smooth finish. If you choose the "no finish" raw steel option, it will naturally develop a patina or surface rust over time if left unsealed—this can be desirable for an industrial look but should be sealed if you want to prevent rust. If rust develops on raw steel legs, it can be easily removed using a Brillo pad or brush.
For maximum rust resistance, we offer professional-grade powder coating in black or clear finishes, which seals the steel and creates a durable barrier against moisture, corrosion, and daily wear.
Are metal table legs strong enough for heavy furniture?
Absolutely. Our legs are built from cold-rolled American steel, which is stronger and denser than many imported alternatives. This makes them ideal for supporting heavy dining tables, desks, kitchen islands, and workbenches without bending or warping over time.
Our 2x4 Square Metal Heavy Duty Table Legs are made from 14-gauge American steel — over 30% thicker than competitors and at least twice as strong...in case you ever need to park a bus on top of your table.
Can steel table legs be used outdoors?
Our powder-coated metal legs in black or clear are much more resistant to weather and can be used outdoors.
Raw steel legs are not recommended for outdoor use unless they are sealed, as they will develop rust quickly when exposed to moisture.
Do your metal table legs come with a warranty?
All of our metal table legs are backed by a lifetime guarantee against defects and manufacturer issues. Each leg is built from cold-rolled steel and finished with professional-grade powder coating or left in raw steel, ensuring unmatched strength and durability. If you ever experience a structural issue with your legs, we’ll make it right.
Do you offer free shipping on steel table legs?
Yes — all of our metal table legs ship completely free within the domestic United States. Each order is professionally packaged to prevent scratches or damage and ships directly from our workshop so your legs arrive safely and ready to install.
